This year was the 29th Annual Quilt and Craft Auction for Metzenbaum Center.  The proceeds from this auction benefit the children and adults of Geauga County with mental retardation and developmental disabilities that receive services from Metzenbaum Center located on Cedar Rd in Chesterland, Ohio.

This is an event that is fun for the whole family.  The day begins with an all you can eat pancake breakfast at 7:00 AM- 10:00AM. There is the largest Amish Bake Sale you have ever seen.  We have a silent auction that spans three hallways and a cash and carry holiday shop for those a bit timid to bid in the silent or live auction.  The live auction begins at 10:00am and goes until approximately 4:00pm.  Items in the live auction are over 27 Beautiful Handmade Amish Quilts, numerous pieces of handcrafted Amish furniture like deacon’s benches, end tables, oak benches, children’s table, cutting boards and corner shelves.

In the silent auction there are baskets made by the classrooms, departments and parents and friends of Metzenbaum Center, jewelry, autographed items by area sports teams along with many gift certificates from local restaurants.

Funds are used to sponsor Special Olympics, Therapeutic horse riding, over night trips for smaller groups, funds to assist teacher expenses, Christmas parties, Special event programs and the Family Resource Program that assists families with day to day expenses of a special needs child or that unexpected expense.

The auction takes place annually on the first Saturday in November.
